Bone-Mask Music
I think I’ve just decided that The Eden House will provide the background music for all my work on the Bone-Mask photographs.
I suspect it’s nostalgia for all those Nephilim gigs I went to when I was a young-un, but what the hell…

Medea/Bone-Mask
Right, that was probably the last of the Medea series of photographs. I feel I learnt quite a bit from that series in terms of what imagery I want to start using in future.
Now to plan out the Bone-Mask series of photographs. Need to plan out poses/angles/lights and find a model…

Tonight I should do some more artwork (or at least plan some out, scribble down ideas for the as-yet-unarranged “mask” photoshoot etc).
Although I could just play around on the internet, wasting time. Hmmm….

Right, that’s the new photographs uploaded to my website, and now I should be getting on with painting some Venetian Carnival masks for my next set of photos.
But the urge to procrastinate is strong, so to overcome it I’ll just spend a little more time on the internet, make another cup of tea, have a cigarette…

finally uploaded some of the 2nd series of Medea... →
Anonymous asked: Who would win in a fight? Henry Kissinger, Margaret Sanger or Cicero. And I don't just want a simple answer, I want a fucking play by play.

I'll be around for the next hour

Since I’ve had various questions about it over the last year I now have an FAQ about modelling for my photography/drawings.
I’ve had one Brighton-based person from Tumblr model for me (twice, for the Medea photographs) but I’ve had quite a few Anons ask questions about pay, what experience you need (none!), etc. So hopefully this new page will be useful.
If you can think of any...

sweetvisage replied to your post: Ideas for photographs
I really like the classical statue idea! :)
Thanks! I’m sure it’s been done before, but I think there are still some creative possibilities in it.
Now to find someone who doesn’t mind being covered in white paint…

Ideas for photographs
A series of photographs of recreations of classical statues. Model’s body painted white, and draped with white cloth.
A series of photographs of model wearing deep crimson Venetian-style carnival masks. Very tight focal length, so that the nude body is blurred and only the mask is in sharp focus.

Photography, Drawing, and various mixed artwork
Now that I’m back in Brighton I can start planning out some new photography and other artwork.
Last week’s trip to the US (despite being just one week, and purely day-job related stuff) seemed to consume my entire ability to plan and be creative.
I’m still a bit jet-lagged, but have already started thinking again about a series of photographs based around a small collection...

andblackandgrey asked: Yes! At school I was always filling my artwork with text, which wasn't really what the syllabus called for. I'm more of a writer now though, but I love seeing how other people draw all their artforms together. My favourite piece off your website is Culture Shock I think.
andblackandgrey asked: I agree. I'd love to really work *with* someone to create something. That's what I like about comic books- the art is telling the story more than the words.
andblackandgrey asked: I do have agenuine question for you: Do you ever collaborate with other mediums? Say, writers?
andblackandgrey asked: My mum's cat got stuck up our nasty next door neighbours' plum tree this afternoon. Thought you'd like to know.

kateshields replied to your post: Do you still do life drawing or just photography now?
I’m starting a new batch of life drawing-based afternoons in March differentwaysofseeing.tumblr.com. :) Or, I thoroughly recommend Sussex Arts Club in Bond Street. Drop-in sessions every day of the week, and affordable.
Ah, you’re doing Saturday afternoons - I might well be able to come to some of those...

New York...
Currently calculating how much free time I’ll get to wander round Manhattan during a work trip to New York later this month.
The free-time/work ratio is looking good so far, so I might get a day and a half free. Time to cross off a few more of the New York sites I haven’t seen yet.
Then down to Florida for a couple of days to warm up (and do more work), but Florida doesn’t...

2nd Tumblr
I’ve just set up a 2nd Tumblr for reblogging images and artwork I like, which you can find at http://lazarus-inspiration.tumblr.com/
This blog (that you’re reading now) remains solely for my own artwork, comments, thoughts, and other original nonsense.
